I ran the experiment… here are the results.

The Weekly "Worth It" Episodes

My top three favorite business and practice-building episodes, curated for YOU

Hey Therapist Entrepreneurs,

Today I was in a therapist Facebook group. Yes, I know, where we all hang out.

A therapist was sharing how hard it is to balance growing her business, running another business, and taking care of her baby at home with limited help. She was looking for suggestions and there were no good ones.

I hear this all the time.

And my immediate thought was, I want to send her every single episode from today’s newsletter.

First, so she could see how to actually decrease her workload with AI.

And second, to talk honestly about capacity. About what Danielle shared, and what I’m now learning too, about what really has to shift behind the scenes, even for the people who seem like they’re doing it all.

I hope these episodes are worth it for you too.

And in this week’s Personal Story Time...
Why easy feels hard

My 3 Favorite Episodes This Week

For specific AI tools that can move the needle...

I can't help it; I'm obsessed with Uriah's AI tools! In this (very short) episode, he discusses some of his go-to's that make his life easier. These are the kinds of tools that can actually give you hours back each week. On my list? I'm going to sign up for Wispr. I would love to never type again; I'd get so much more done! If you'd like some AI hacks to make your life easier, I'd 100% recommend this episode.

For the real talk you need for scaling your business....

When Danielle Swimm’s new episode started playing today, I realized it was exactly what I wanted to hear and honestly what I needed to hear.

Danielle is real with us, which I always love. And this is what she reminds us of: nobody can do it all. If you don’t have capacity, and if you don’t make an effort to create capacity in your life, you can know every single step to being successful and still be too burnt out, too overwhelmed, or just too time-strapped to actually take those steps.

This is something I always know cognitively and often forget practically (as you'll hear if you listen to the very vulnerable Worth It I released yesterday.)

What I love about this episode is that it’s so real. It’s very practical and solution-oriented, and it gives you both the hug you need and the motivation to do something different.

If you’ve been harboring a dream and getting in your own way, this episode is definitely worth it.

For the end of my personal experiment…

Can I do 100% of the things in 50% of the time? It turns out...no. But not for the reasons I thought! For a more in-depth conclusion to my (failed) experiment, as well as the insights and improvements that I made along the way, this episode will give you the details!

Leah's Personal Story Time:

Why does easy feel hard?

Have you ever noticed that sometimes when we’re presented with the easy option, we don’t want to take it?

Sometimes it seems like if something is easy, then it must not be worthwhile.

But I’ve been realizing it’s not always about things being “too easy.” I think sometimes it’s actually a discomfort with the idea of working less or working less intensely.

There is something about using a tool or system that would take work off my plate that can make it feel like I’m cheating somehow. Like if I’m not working as hard, then maybe it doesn’t count. Or maybe I don’t deserve the outcome.

I suspect this is connected to our culture. We have this very Puritan, pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps value system where we learn that everything good must come from really hard work. Work=good. Effort=good. Struggle=good.

So when something actually makes our lives easier, when it reduces effort or saves time, there’s a part of us that resists it. Because if we’re working less or different, are we doing something wrong?

I see this come up for me with tools all the time.

For example, I’ve heard Uriah talk about Wispr and it sounds great. Am I using Wispr yet?

Nope.

Why?

On a conscious level, I have no idea. It's an obvious win. But now I wonder if it's because it seems like it would make things too easy.

Or if you listen to my newest episode of the Worth It Practice Podcast, the solution to a problem I was having was actually right in front of me the whole time. But it scared me because it would have made things simpler. On some level, I think I felt like I didn’t deserve that kind of ease.

And it makes me wonder how many other opportunities there are where I’m not taking the easier path. Not because the harder path is actually better, but because the easier one reduces the amount of work I have to do, and that feels uncomfortable.

The high achiever in me still believes that if something is valuable, it must also be difficult.

Have you ever noticed this in yourself?

Have there been times where you could make your life meaningfully easier, but you avoided it anyway?

I’ve been wondering what would happen if we allowed ourselves to make the easier choice sometimes, as long as it doesn’t compromise quality.

Maybe working less isn’t the problem.

Maybe it’s the point.

Sharing is caring!

"Worth It" episodes

Worth It is a weekly newsletter for therapists building private-pay practices who want smart, thoughtful guidance—without having to spend 10+ hours a week down the podcast rabbit hole like I do. I genuinely love listening to business and therapy podcasts. I’m curious, obsessive, and always looking for ideas that help me run and grow my own seven-figure, self-pay group practice. Each week, I pick my three favorite episodes—the ones that actually make a difference—and share them with you, along with clear takeaways you can apply right away. If you’re building something meaningful, profitable, and sustainable—and you want real inspiration that’s been road-tested in a real practice—subscribe to Worth It. It’s one of my favorite things I create each week, and I’m excited to share it with you.
