Hey Therapist Entrepreneurs,
This week's episodes are relatively marketing-heavy. But it's the fall, so we're doubling down on our marketing, right? We're diving into SEO, Google Ads, and a bit of hustle, but honestly, I think all of that is fun, and I hope you do too.
My 3 Favorite Episodes This Week

For how to optimize your SEO right now…
I have been obsessed with every single episode Danielle Swimm has produced lately, mostly because I am rebuilding my website and determined to get it right this time. At least...until they change everything again! AEO last week and SEO/AI search this week. One of the fascinating things that Danielle's guest discussed was exactly how to research terms that you can try to rank for, using a very specific example. I literally took notes and can't wait to apply these strategies soon!

For (hopefully) getting Google Ads right…
I'm a believer in Google Ads. The hard part is finding someone who really does this service well for therapists specifically. That's why I was very interested to hear what John from Revkey would tell Uriah this week about the newest shifts and mistakes to avoid with Google Ads for therapists today. Did I expect him to use my practice's old Google Ads campaign as his example of what not to do? Nope! But he wasn't wrong. 🙃 And hopefully, if I'm living rent-free in John's head, my next batch of Google Ads is going to be fantastic. If you want to learn all about the mistakes to avoid when setting up this kind of account, I highly recommend this episode.

For embracing the "hustle" in seasons...
When all of Instagram is showing you pictures of practice owners lying on a beach in Aruba, I'm here to tell you the truth: the "soft life" can happen for us practice owners, but not without substantial work first. There's a myth going around that we should immediately be able to slip into a private practice space of "ease" and "abundance." While I believe that we can have what we want eventually, there is a hustle side that I do think everyone needs to acknowledge. If you'd like to hear my thoughts on the pacing and seasons of private practice (and also why I recorded the episode on Labor Day), then this episode is worth a listen.

Leah's Personal Story Time:
Why I build my business for myself
Earlier this week, I was invited to teach in Danielle Swimm's Scale Up Mastermind. In fact, some of you reading this now may have been there. 😊 It was a lot of fun to hang out with such an amazing group of therapist entrepreneurs, and it was also really enjoyable to answer so many thoughtful questions.
Have you ever been in a situation where you didn't realize exactly how you felt about something until somebody asked you directly, and then, in the process of formulating your answer, you just felt the truth of what you said for yourself? The truth just comes out and surprises you and also it feels... "right." That actually happened to me in one of the conversations. I don't even remember the question exactly, but what I found myself saying out loud to a group of people I respected is that I don't do any of the things I do in my business for anyone but myself.
Before you jump all over me for sounding selfish and self-centered, let me clarify. All of the ambitious goals that I have are created by me and for me to see what I can do. I'm not trying to impress anyone. No one else is holding a standard for me. I'm just doing what I want. Does anyone expect me to have two podcasts? No. What about a consulting business? No. What about this weekly newsletter? Absolutely not. What about a seven-figure practice that I keep growing? Also no. None of these things are required by anybody, and yet I do them, and I don't do them for anybody. I do them for myself because I want to, and because I want to see what I can really do if I stretch my capacity to the max. It's just that simple.
There's something incredibly liberating about testing yourself that way, with no sense of obligation or fear of judgment from anyone else. It crystallizes your goals. I didn't realize I'd gotten to that point, but when I said it out loud, I realized that I'm doing exactly what I've always wanted to do, and that's a fun thing to know.
If it's Worth It, pass it along!
