[Worth It] I've blocked off three mornings a week indefinitely

The Weekly "Worth It" Episodes

My top three favorite business and practice-building episodes, curated for YOU

Hey Therapist Entrepreneurs,

This week, we're talking about building a leadership team you can trust, using AI to help people find you online, and growing your practice while still paying yourself well. These episodes each made me think about decisions and tweaks I've been making in my own practice lately, and I hope they give you some ideas for yours

My 3 Favorite Episodes This Week

For learning how to build a leadership team…

In the two most recent episodes of the Therapy for Your Money podcast, Julie Herres interviews two very successful group practice owners about their strategies for delegating so many of their responsibilities that they've essentially worked themselves out of the direct CEO role of their practice. It's very unusual to hear an insider scoop of what it's like to still own a practice but start actually taking a back seat. One of the factors that stood out the most to me was that both the guests had built systems that they could trust and had dashboards that they could use to understand the health of the business without having to be involved in every single aspect of it. If you've thought of ways of delegating more and imagining what different practice leadership structures could actually look like, this episode will give you an insider's peek that is truly illuminating.

For using AI the "right way" to boost SEO…

I feel like I listen to every episode that has the words "AI" or "SEO" (or, even better, some cool combination of the two), because I'm determined to find a way to be consistently found online in the wild landscape of 2026. In this episode of Practice of the Practice, Joe brings on Stephan Bajajio to talk about the ways that you can use AI to get found and the ways that it will backfire on you. Stephan and Joe both share some strategies for using AI to help you write copy that's authentic, and I actually have used these strategies myself on my own website. If you're trying to find a way of getting things done more quickly with AI while still being you, this episode is worth a listen.

For staying profitable...

This is the simple truth: I've been profitable in my business since my early stages as a solo provider in 2016. In this episode of the Worth It Practice podcast, I share my journey and my strategies for being able to support myself through my practice, through two maternity leaves, a challenging COVID transition, and the growth into a multi-seven-figure group practice. If you're wondering how to grow while still being able to pay yourself well, this episode is for you.

Leah's Personal Story Time:

Why I can't wait for October

Recently, you’ve heard me talk unapologetically about hustle. You’ve heard me talk a lot about being in a “growth stage” in my practice. You’ve even heard me record episodes on Labor Day and push through discomfort to Get Things Done. Now the end is in sight! This week, we are transitioning into my new office space. This week, my new Google Ads campaign is actually up and running. This week, I can see a sitemap of my new website and how we are rolling things out. This week, several new hires have opened up their caseloads.

It's all coming together. Finally. You know what I did? I looked at my schedule and I started blocking off 3 mornings a week. Yes, it's blocked off until 11 am on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. There's no explanation or justification. It just says "block" for literally months. Would you like to know why?

I'm moving out of the sprint. It's time to slow down. It's time to rebalance, and my goal is no longer to work all the time. My goal is to let the systems that I've created settle in, to take a giant step back, and see what actually happens when I'm not pushing this business forward with this level of effort and energy.

I'm really excited about it. Hopefully now I can enter into a new phase of my practice where I get to see how all of that hard work paid off, and I can tweak from a place of greater calm.

Also, I'm going to start working out in the morning, for real, and it's even cool enough to walk my dog now. I don't think I've ever been so ready for an October in my life.

"Worth It" episodes

Worth It is a weekly newsletter for therapists building private-pay practices who want smart, thoughtful guidance—without having to spend 10+ hours a week down the podcast rabbit hole like I do. I genuinely love listening to business and therapy podcasts. I’m curious, obsessive, and always looking for ideas that help me run and grow my own seven-figure, self-pay group practice. Each week, I pick my three favorite episodes—the ones that actually make a difference—and share them with you, along with clear takeaways you can apply right away. If you’re building something meaningful, profitable, and sustainable—and you want real inspiration that’s been road-tested in a real practice—subscribe to Worth It. It’s one of my favorite things I create each week, and I’m excited to share it with you.
